Artichoke Garden Seeds. Cynara cardunculus var. scolymus. Perennial.
The Green Globe Artichoke is considered to be one of the most prolific types of artichoke and will continue to produce for up to five years after being planted. The green globe artichoke produces buds that grow up to 5″ in diameter with thick, juicy leaves. The buds sit atop a 4′ tall stalk that should be cut down to the ground after the tops have been harvested to allow the plant to grow a new stalk the following season.
If not harvested, the artichoke will open into a beautiful purple flower that will add a splash of color to your garden landscape. The green globe artichoke does take longer than other varieties to mature, just sit back and be patient you'll be able to harvest in late-summer for optimal yields. Artichoke Growing Guide
